   I am currently enrolled in a PhD programme in the University of New Mexico, med school.I also work as a GRA at the Los Alamos National Lab.Well, I got married about 6 months ago and my husband works at LANL too. Before this, I was pursuing my dissertation work for the completion of my masters in microbiology from the National Institute of Immunology. My batch mates include Sumithra[You must know of her brothers Sudharshan and Srinivasan and sis ,all from JV.], K.K. Anand, Archana, Arun etc etc. We passed out in '92. Two of our batch mates are in the US now. Rajasekar is at Clarkson and Sumi is joining the Ohio univ in june for her phd.
   Memoirs of JV
   I really miss those days we spent at JV, the children's day celebrations,the sports day craze, our teachers and everything. The spirit of JV was really great. I recall Ambujavalli's biology classes,the interhouse competitions, the rehersals for group sing ing ,the auditions for all those comps and sports with fondness. I would really like to get in touch with many of my classmates and seniors.
   Updates on JV
   I had been to school in dec last. Things have really not changed much. Ambujavalli[bio] is the principal now.Alfie is the v.p. Our time V.P. Pattamal has got herself a teaching position in BITS,Pilani. Elizabeth is theNehru house teacher, Lakshmi[maths ] is the Saro h.t. For Indira its still good old Shaheeda and for Tagore UPK.
   About my batchmates
   I had writtern about Sumithra.She will be in the US on the 8th of june and will pursue her phd from Ohio state univ. Rajasekar.v , also my classmate , is now in clarkson univ,US. Three people are in IIT. They have given their final exams. N. Ananthkumar has just given his final exams in Chem eng from IIT Madras. Rajeshwari is finishing from IIT kharagpur this year. R.Arun must have passed out last year from IIT Madras but I am not intouch with him. Of the people who went to BITS,K.K.Anand is finishing a five year course this year. He did his BE computers+ MSc mathematics. Jaya.v passed out last year .She is currently working with Tata consultancy,Madras. S.Arun has finished his BE comp and is now working in Vetri software Madras. S.Archana is working in citibank,Madras. Yamini.k. is doing her MSc in microbiology ,same as\ I but fri=om Dhanapal college in Madras. I know in detail about most other pals of mine too. We are keeping intouch so far [Good show,uh?]

   BSc Physics, 91 - 44 - 4862355(H) Days spent in JV were really great. Sivaswami's boring speehes during morning prayer with his famous quote " Hindu's go to temple, Christians go to church ...." and his speech about Saint Trimoolar, Goddess Gowri and also his English class when he taught the lesson "Maternity" are still fresh in everyone's mind. I keep in touch with my batch mates Venugopal and Sunil Lionel Joseph. Venu is with TPL and he is soon moving over to TCS( HR Deptt) Sunil is finishing his MBA this year. We spend most of our time in chennai in USB.

What fun, I really miss those days, although I was out of contact with all my co-fellows I thank venkat to have reestablished our contacts. I did my B.E from Mysore University in Instrumentation technology, and currently pursuing my M.E in Medical Electronics from Anna University, I did meet V.Srinivas sometime back. I still remember those days where we used to take the begum's (shaida and waida) for a big ride, I cannot forget that sexy amubujavalli and lot more, hope we all get together someday for a nice meet.    After my JV days, I studied at Madras Law College ('87-'92). Then went to the US to join my husband who was studying at UMass, Amherst. Joined a Paralegal course and worked in a law firm as a Paralegal ('92-'94). My husband found a job in Zurich and we moved to Switzerland in March '94. He is currently working at Credit Suisse and I am working at Citibank. It is really nice to see Jawaharites doing well all over the world, including in the best place in the world, INDIA. Would love to visit the school campus and immerse in nostalgia. Whoever visits please post updates.

Anni,madhavan,dummy,rajesh, Anil, kumar (kummy),B.V,Rangamannar chetty,rangarajan are other jv mates whom i miss. My funny moments in J.V were in Engineering drawing class in XI and X11 class. he was a funny man.(sorry forgot his name!). Other moments were comp science teacher waheeda begum (sister of shaheeda begum).We used to bug her. Used to hang around in Ashok nagar and k.k.nagar.Saravana bhavan was our meeting place.Did my maths in New college(87-90).computers in NIIT. (1990-1992). worked in Madras petro chemicals and in pentafour sfotware. Came to this country in july 95. miss the girls of k.k.nagar & Ashok nagar.    Nickname in school: did not have any(as far as i know) Some of the most popular & well-known students in my batch were Rukmini, Radha,Ramya &Arvind (have u noticed that I have mentioned only girls names!). There are too many bitter-sweet memories. I am sure that once i start recollecting them I will not be able to restict this note to 100 words. I miss all my friends Ramya ,Durga, Sajeev, Ebe, Sudha,Mala...... I really, really miss them with a vengence. I hope they have the presence of mind (which is like asking for the impossible)to search for our school site & get in touch with me.

Everytime I go home, I try to meet Chetty, Anil and Ashutosh - usually succeed i n meeting them. Met Devanand, Anand & Kumar last May at Ajay's wedding.

   One among the four in the family always visit JV without fail, may be in turns - I met all our teachers in Jan '99- some of them who were not my teachers mistook me for my sis & smiled and spoke - Can't believe that I'm out of school for the last 12 years -everything looks the same - the rapport being the same - alfi & elizabeth & wahida recollecting the famous episode during one of our revision tests in 1987! - good to keep going back and to hear all our teachers speak - for a change outside studies
   Have come back to stay in Ashok Nagar Good to go back to school on web - lot more simpler - brings back beautiful memories about the carefree days spent when life was all fun except for the regular tests & exams - still trying to figure out why Ms Alphonso Jacob made us mug up all the chapters in English ! - I have not mustered enough courage to ask her even now - The Physicsmaster (name forgotten) who slapped Sandeep on his face(reason forgotten) -the crafts teacher who always said - enna panneirukkai nee ??-Ms Swarnamukhi & her beautiful handwriting -Ms Rajalakshmi & her beautiful cotton sarees - Ms Kamaladevi who gave me 6 marks for an essay when the allotted marks for the question was only 5 -Ms Uma Venugopal who sent me to her house to bring our test notebooks - Mrs Rupa & her Badmaash - Mrs Pankajam & her words - the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world my child (& the evening when me & my elder bro felt so miserable when we heard that she was no more with us - I still treasure the test notebook whereshe had given me a V Good - Mrs Shahida & her superfast maths dictation (oh - she's going to hit me next time I visit school)- Mrs Wahida & her everfound confusion in teaching us computer programming (she did her research on us - we being her first batch) - Mrs UPK & her U / V necks - Mrs Alice & her dark lipstick - Mrs Elizabeth &her on dot husband who used to pick her up @ the most correct time - the trio of Mrs Alphi / Mrs Elizabeth / Mrs Joyce John (who has since left for B'lore) - the famous chips breaks of the foursome on the 3rd floor - Mrs Kanakavalli & her history class &&&&&.......... so many things so difficult to express in words - Lokesh & his Dil Dhatap Dhatap # - Makesh (K U see) & his Vandal Mahalakshmiye # - Carl Veejas, Ebe - Shanthi Subhashree Sudha Rekha Viji Jai Mala manju Bhaskar & his chess & .......    Batch (XII) : 1986
   Memories : I could still remember the English classes particularly XI and XII. Alphi was the teacher. In her classes we have to mug up the chapters and reproduce them in the classes. Also she will pick up on her own, each time it will be anand (myself), & i used to blink !!! Next day impo.. 10 times. ......Also my benchmate T.S.Subramani (I don't know where he is now) used to help me out on all those days... during monthly test, i used to bring all the text books and TSS used one of the best tech and utilized those books and help us out during tests.
   Also Childrens day functions, how can i forget, I was in Tagore House and the competitions keeps us in high spirits. Later JV introduces the project works on every alternate Childrens day func. Those were also interesting......What days are those....

   Good show Sriram on having a JV Website ! It was very thrilling to recollect names of teachers / batchmates / seniors / juniors etc. I am from the 84 batch and am presently a research analyst at Cazenove Securities a british share brokerage firm at their Indian office in Bangalore. My class mates in the commerce section were Seethalakshmi (the school captain), Rajkumar (Capt - Tagore House who unfortunately passed away), Y Padma (Capt - Indira House), Jaishree (Capt Nehru House). My teachers were Mr Hariharan (Commerce & Accounts), Eli, UPK, Mrs Sharma and offcourse Mrs Shahida Begum - whose marriage I had attended.
   I remember with fond memories the interhouse competitions and the first ever science exhibition we had when I was in 12th. I recall al lot of my classmate's names and am in touch with Rakoba, Suman Bose, Jaishree, Subbi. All Jawahrites are welcome to get in touch with me.

   For people who dont remeber me : I was a quiz buff -represented school and the house (we won the interhouse). Was also active with the juniors in selecting various teams. My brother is Rammohan P from the 88 batch.

   Was in JV till 1981-1982, went to AMJC from 1982-1985 graduated in Chemistry. Started working as an instructor in BDPS, Madras ( did take a computer diploma while at college, evening classes ). Worked in some consultancies in Madras and Hyderabad.Came back to Madras in 1989, worked for PACE ELCOT AUTOMATION. Left India came to Singapore in 1991. Became a Permenant Resident in 1992, Worked for a big conglomerate for 2 years. Joined my present job at Singapore Polytechnic in 1993. Now working as a Multimedia developer there.
   Had the best of the teachers: Ms.Alphie (We always called her that) ; Ms.Shahida ( The best of the Math teacher I've ever had) ; Ms.Ambujam ( Ha! my botany teacher) and then there were others who I knew only by names wegave them. One among them was Ms.Mezhugu Bommai ( She taught english)
